Today I'm adding entries for February, 1945.
Feb 1st-Temp 4 to 18 (cold) 1350 gallon went to farmers, one new customer. Today I pass another milestone in my life's journey. I pray God that He guide and protect me and mine as I travel over the rest of what I must go.
Feb 2nd-Temp 5 to 24 Still cold but moderated a little, but "ole groundhog saw his shadder". The coal we have now is none too hot but we will get by. Can tell more later on.
Everett Shank who lost his baby last week lost his wife today, May God comfort him.
Feb 3-Temp 4 to 30 Some rise but could still rise more. 2600 gallon went to farmers, several new ones. People let water run over night to keep from freezing had to pump early this morning, then took Versae and Marceil Buckingham to the hospital at Middletown to see about entering as cadet nurses. Donald went along. Saw brother John and family (part of them).
Feb 4-Temp 22-32 and a rain which froze as it fell on the ground finally warming a little so some thawing was done. 1850 gal went out today only pumped 55,200 gal today,
Rev, Stoneburner preached toady while Rev. Bradow assisted on ordination services for Student House at Zion's church north of Eaton.
Feb 5th-Temp 18-30 And it thawed a little ice where sun hit. 900 gallon went to farmers today.
Charles thawed out water pipe at Gett's farm with electric welder, also used torch on meter at Lyle Thorpe Jordan's.
Carl Smith of Sight feed Generator Co is a little alarmed about fire since the fire at Flory plant at Eaton when several fire plugs were found frozen causing fire to get a considerable headway.
Feb 6th-Temp 7-31 A little more ice melted. 1400 gallon went to farmers today.
Charles, using Sight Feed Generator Co's electric welder with cooperation & assistance of D P & L thawed out a 2" pipe line on W 2nd St. Yesterday he was at Gett's farm for 3/4" pipe.

Feb 7-Temp 22-34 And it's beginning to rain this evening, forecast want snow and colder tomorrow, hope not.
L. Q. Black's son-in-law Lt **** gave a short talk at Kiwanis last night giving the infantry great deal of credit for the war in Europe. (2800 gal)
Charles and family are having supper with us tonight.
Feb 8th-Temp 31-28 Had rain and a little snow and now it is colder. Only 250 gallon to farmers today. Water froze and burst bottom out at Jones (old Galt place) could have saved it if they had notified us sooner.
Charles laid sewer for Stanley Bortner this P.M.
Feb 9th-Temp 26-35 Moderated quite a bit some more of the ice melted. 1450 gallons went to farmers today.
Donald came home from visiting his grandparents in Lebanon.
Feb 10th-Temp 32-34 And it rained, turning colder. 2000 gallon went to farmers today.
A fox drive northwest of us netted 6 foxes today,next Saturday will be on to the northeast.
Charles and I hooked up Mary's and Dorothy's stove last night. I assisted Charles at Bortner's this A.M. used Orangeburg pipe, I think it i swell.

Feb 11-Temp 18-35 Fine day overhead only a few travel that way, very slushy underfoot. 2200 gallon went to farmers today.
Cora and Sarah and their children were home for dinner today.

Feb 12-Temp 27-41 A lot of ice melted today, a few more days like this and the ice will be gone. 550 gallons went to farmers today.
Not many flags out for Lincoln's 136th birthday. They sure charge now to repair tires $1.22 where 2 years ago it as 50c.
Feb 13-Temp 32-30 getting colder, 1650 gallon went out today. Kiwanis tonight. Hope to enjoy myself.
Feb 14-Temp 28-37-41 Fine day. Sprinkled a little. 1000 gallon out today.
Well we enjoyed ourselves at the basket ball game between Rev. Shimler's (5) and Rev. Beekley's (5) which was held after Kiwanis and it netted for the Boy Scout fund $81.44 less expenses.
Today is St. Valentine's day, but above all it is the first day of Lent. I pray that I and mine will conduct ourselves accordingly. Services at church tonight.
Feb 15-Temp 32-61 Boy it sure was balmy today. I hope it continues but the weatherman says colder. 1900 gallon went to farmers today. I believe most of the wells are furnishing water again for they area hauling less.
Well Nina is again to become a mother. I hope her faith will not be in vain and she doesn't lose it (her faith) or the child either.
Began work on sanitary sewer work st the church this morning. Some job.
Feb 16-Temp 30-34 Some drop from yesterday and more cold is promised. Only 650 gallon went to farmers today. They started to dig on outside of church today. I hope we have fair weather until we get it finished.
Feb 17-Temp 24-30 Not such bad weather, real cold did not come. 900 gallon went to two farmers today. To the northeast a fox drive was staged and netted tow red-fox. It was claimed a few got away between the lines.
Nina did not come home and Donald went to Cleveland.
Feb 18-Temp 12-27 Cold but nice day, 1450 gallon went to farmers today. Heard Dr. W A Maier today, he doesn't have much faith in the big 3, F.D.R. Churchill or Stalin, for they work without God.
Feb 19-Temp 11-28 Cold by fine day to work outside. 1400 gallon went to farmers. Arthur Gilbert was here the first two weeks.
Digging a the the church for sanitary sewer is progressing nicely.
Like Donald there isn't much more to write so Goodnight.
Feb 20-Temp 28-32 Snow then a little rain today ????? 900 gal to farmers today. Worked on sanitary sewer ditch at church this A.M. also last night inside. About deep enough at north end.
Well Kiwanis tonight so goodnight.
Feb 21-Temp 33-40 Rain mos of day, not hard. Only 500 gallon went out today.
Weather makes it bad for down at church. They worked inside today.
Lenten services tonight.
Feb 22-Temp 40-34 & getting colder this evening, only 400 gallon went out to farmers today.
Only 95 were at Lenten services last night. Bad weather and indifference were the reasons.
Laid 15' of soil pipe in ditch at church so that if it caves in more it will not have to be shoveled out again.
Feb 23-Temp 27-37 windy, only 14 gallon went out today. Worked in ditch at church besides my regular work so I am tired.
Feb 24-Temp 24-50 A mighty fine day and 1650 gallons went to farmers today. It seems as if most wells are coming back. I hope so.
Assisted at church this AM finished running sanitary sewer into building.
We who worked in the ditch surely had the guardian angle hovering over us for we had not finished more that a half hour when several tons of earth caved in where we had been standing, so it behooves us to have our house in order.
Feb 25-Temp 28-52 Warm to cloudy, rain promised. No water went to farmers today, the first time in several weeks.
Today being Donald's last Sunday of his furlough, we had all children & grand children home except Nina and her family.
Feb 26-Temp 49-32 Rained all day and finally ended up with sleet, rain froze on trees and bushes. Fine rain though, should help the wells, no water went out today. Board meets tonight have a little apprehensions as to the outcome.
Feb 27-Temp 20-28 cold today, 400 gallon went to one farmer today, they are getting less.
Kiwanis meets tonight. Cleaned sewer in E 2nd St today.
Feb 28-Temp 26-32 None too pleasant today. Esther and Elmer were married 36 years ago today.
No water went out today. Pumped early today in order to take Donald to his train at Dayton on his way to camp near Columbia S. C. after a 30 day furlough. I hope we see him oftener than we have for the past 3 years.
Attended Lenten services at Salem, then pumped some more water.
I am writing this at 11:20 P.M. so goodnight.
