Today I'm just going to get right into the next month's entries. After I get a few more monthly entries in I'll go back to adding more history as I get it. Today it's for June, 1943.

Tues June 1-Temp 84-88; 47,200 gal: Cloudy and pretty warm today. Hauled desk, property of B of PA to town hall to be used by Defense Council. Cut down catalpa tree north of walk.

Wed June 2-Temp 70+-88; 59,200 gal: Part cldy and warm good growing weather. Made tap for Mrs Elva Peirson on end of Dewey St. Also set meter for Thomas Crank. Made some tip protectors. John F. 57 today.

Thurs June 3-Temp 69-89; 62,400 gal: Part cloudy and warm again, clouding up. Made inspections of Elevator and Mrs ida Call's Sewer connections. Mowed most of station lot by hand, power mower on blink. Finished tips.

Fri June 4-Temp 72-91; 60,000 gal: (32 years together) Hot today but good growing weather. Worked in truck patch some, set meter for Mrs Elva Peirson, Dewey St. Mr Agne and wife spoke for fireplace and tables for near future.

Sat June 5-Temp 71-86; 51,200 gal: Another good one. In truck patch. Moved standpipt lot and church lot also at home.

Sun June 6-Temp 63-79-68; 56,000 gal: Fine weather this A.M. heavy rain P.M. (1 in.) Very heavy rain near Lewisburg last evening. Filled standpipe to overflowing. Monfort and wife and baby ate their dinner at station lot today.

Mon June 7-Temp 65-79; 48,000 gal: Cloudy,threatened rain in morning, sun came out fine and hot later. Took boys to Enos Eikenberry's to pick strawberries. I then went to Lawrence Rinck's and got some sweet potato sprouts, 485 and planted 443 of them.

Tues June 8-Temp 60-74; 57,600 gal: Part cloudy nice day, reset telephone co. meter. Worked on tips. All's quiet in West Alex.

Wed June 9-Temp 58-80; 54,400 gal: A very nice day. Mr Carr representing Garlock Packing Co called but I did not hive him an order. Turned on water for Thomas Crank, Dewey St. Elevator finished their ditch. I hauled 2 loads of paper for Boy Scouts.

Thurs June 10-Temp 57-85; 54,400 gal: Fine day again but threatening rain again. Put bug killer in potatoes this A.M. and worked some ground for Wilbur. Worked on tips also. Received telegram (Postal) from Nina,she leaves Yakima Wash. for home Friday June 11th.

Fri June 11-Temp 63-85; 55,200 gal: Foggy this morning then became nice with part cloudy. Worked ontip protectors, had a sick headache all morning. Mowed part of station lot.

Sat June 12-Temp 64-89; 57,600 gal: Foggy then sunshine good breeze. Moved standpipe lot and balance of ststion lot. Good growing weather. I hope it continues.

Sun June 13 (Pentecost)-Temp 68-95; 55,200 gal: Monforts and Parsons took dinner here today. Sunshine A.M. Cloudy P.M. Robert Voge, Carl & Les Ashworth, Roy Wright, Don Klepinger and families took supper here tonight. Children's Services at Salem tonight.

Mon June 14-Temp 76-91; 62,400 gal: Flag Day. I hope Old Glory gets carried into Italy today. Pretty hot today, showers threatening now at 6:15 P.M. Warren Askins started to mow weeds at disposal plant.

Tues June 15-Temp 69-93; 62,400 gal: Hot today yet a good breeze. Met Nina at the trains station in Dayton, train late, when we arrived home a blackout was in progress. Went off good and we all learned something. Read meters with Chas Mause this A.M. Did a little garden work P.M. Sent Mary a telegram, a little worried why she has written is also duet to go to work tomorrow. That's enough for today only it looks like rain now.

Wed June 16-Temp 69-90; 60,000 gal: Another hot one, need rain. Showers all around us. Read meters this A.M. Lawlessed Harry Copp & McCoy & Wright. Worked in garden P.M. Mary came home last night, she arrived in Dayton about 10:45 P.M. Warren Askins finished weeds ad D.Plant.

Thurs June 17-Temp 77(?)-84; 59,200 gal: Finished reading meters at 11:00 this morning. Lawlessed service at Grace Meyer property on Smith St. Worked garden some.

Fri June 18-Temp 68-85; 68,000 gal: They used a lot of water today. Lawlessed Spittler and the Schell service lines, plenty of pressure at meters but nothing in houses.

Sat June 19-Temp 54-89; 71,200 gal: Still using lot of water. Leak showed up in water line between meter and house of Grace Meyer property on Smith St. Tenant dug it out. I put in 13'-1" of 3/4" galv. pipe and a union . Pretty hot today. Clear sky.

Sun June 20-Temp 57-88; 54,400 gal: Part cloudy and hot. Fair attendance at church this A.M. Mary's folks, Dad and Mom McGregor of Lebanon and Rev and Florence Love, Mary's sister of N.J. visited us today, took dinner at Charles'.

Mon June 21-Temp 68-93; 81,600 gal: Summer begins today. Part cloudy but hot. Picked our first crop of peas from victory garden. Ate our supper here in park. Turned water on at Della Marker place (old Waymire) bought by Ed McClellan. Pumped till 8:00 EWT.

Tues June 22-Temp 69-94; 76,000 gal: Another hot one and they are using the water. Pumped till 7:55 E.W.T. Made tip protectors today.

Wed June 23-Temp 74-97; 194,400 gal: Good and hot today. Flushed fire hydrants in south half of town, giving a thorough cleaning found valve at Smith & Dayton closed. Got lawn mower from Richard today, sure runs now.

Thurs June 24-Temp 67-97; 127,200 gal: Picked 2 bu of peas this evening. Fire hydrant E Oak St started to leak this P.M. Flushed balance of fire hydrants in town.

Fri June 25-Temp 76-94; 87,200 gal: Sick headache this A.M. & most of day. Picked a few raspberries this A.M. Mother canned 12 qt of peas of those we picked last n ight. Hope to water the garden tonight, threatened rain but none fell. John and Richard were here this P.M. Richard is stationed in California.

Sat June 26-Temp 76-93; 93,200 gal: Hot and dry they sure are using a lot of water. Repaired fire hydrant on E oak St last night, valve rubber and brass guide were both shot. Don't get much chance to water garden, pumped this A.M. and from 6 to 10 this P.M.

Sun June 27-Temp 77-96; 53,600 gal: It rained this P.M. not near as much water used today. Robert Voge and family, Waldo Kester and family and the Mrs.' brother and family ate a steak supper here this evening.

Mon June 28-Temp 74-91; 77,600 gal: P.S. Received work Uncle Nate at LaHabra Calif. died, be buried at Whittier California.

Tues June 29-Temp 64-76; 56,800 gal: Sorry I skipped yesterday, but it's clear and cooler today. Didn't pump as much today. Have been irrigating the potatoes hope it helps, made some tip protectors today.

Wed June 30-Temp 45-68; 76,000 gal: Cold for the last day of June but they still use a lot of water. Still irrigating potatoes. Got pay today.
